Legendary Los Angeles FM radio rocker KMET (94.7) may be gone, but KLSX (97.1) is seeing that it’s not forgotten. The on-air staff from the Mighty Met (who were fired en masse Friday by management, which plans a complete format and call letter change) has been invited to bid on-air farewells to listeners at KLSX at 4 p.m. today. KLSX Program Director Tom Yates did the inviting, explaining, “One of the sad things about radio is that you seldom get the chance to say goodby. You’re there one day and the next day you’re gone.” KMET’S arch-rival KLOS hosted a similar farewell Friday night, and all seven of KMET’s full-time disc jockeys showed up or phoned in.
