The Times has often published articles about the Getty Museum’s stated policy of dedication to stimulating public and professional participation in the arts. On Feb. 1, the following ad appeared in your newspaper:
Surely, they must be joking!

Nope. A spokeswoman for the Getty Center--a small research institution that, like the Getty Museum, is a creature of the Getty Trust , confirmed the salary figure and failed to see the humor in the ad. (The Trust, created by the estate of J. P. Getty, was worth $3.6 billion in May, 1986.). said about 30 job-hunters had applied for the “entry-level position” after two days.
