Intruder at Residence of Trinidad Leader Killed

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — A man who entered the grounds of the unoccupied prime minister’s residence with a sword and menaced gardeners was shot and killed by a soldier, National Security Minister Herbert Atwell said Wednesday.
Atwell told reporters that the man, who has not been identified, climbed over the wall surrounding the residence Tuesday and began attacking gardeners with a sword. In the ensuing struggle with guards, the intruder was shot in the stomach by a soldier, Atwell said.
