Bell : Satellite Dish Site Rented

The Bell City Council has approved an agreement to rent a portion of the city’s storage yard to a cable television company for placement of two satellite dishes. Under terms of the 15-year lease, the city will receive $250 a month from Masada Corp. for the use of a small portion of the yard at Gage and Chanslor avenues. The agreement ends a months-long search by the company for a site, City Administrator Byron Woosley said.
The Bell-Cudahy Cable Television Commission awarded a 15-year franchise to Masada last March. Woosley said the start of cable service for Bell and Cudahy residents will be delayed, however, because the company must begin stringing transmission cable on existing electrical or telephone poles. Permission must be granted by the affected utility companies. “That’s going to be the only holdup now,” he said.
