Nigel Starkey, a former Manhattan Beach police officer, was ordered to stand trial on sexual assault and bribery charges for allegedly forcing a 23-year-old woman he arrested into having sex with him. Starkey, 30, of Torrance, will be arraigned Feb. 10. Starkey, who was a British bobby before joining the Manhattan Beach police in May, 1982, is free on $20,000 bail. He arrested the woman on Sept. 16 at a bank for alleged forgery and he allegedly pressured her into having sex with him the next day in a jail interview room, investigators said.
