All four people aboard a light plane that crashed in the rugged Desolation Wilderness area west of Lake Tahoe were found dead, authorities said. The victims were pilot Harold Maggard, 50, his wife Joan Maggard, 52, and their daughter Dawn Maggard, 23, all of Los Altos, and Dan Lofstrand, 30, of Foster City. The San Jose-bound, single-engine Cessna 177 Cardinal disappeared after the pilot radioed that his engine had quit after takeoff from South Lake Tahoe.
