Sweet Envoy to Run in Kentucky Derby Prep
FLORENCE, Ky. — Sweet Envoy, a New York-bred bay colt undefeated in three races, is the first horse nominated for the sixth running of the $500,000-guaranteed Jim Beam Stakes at Turfway Park.
The one and one-16th mile prep race for 3-year-old Kentucky Derby hopefuls is scheduled March 29 at the northern Kentucky racetrack.
Sweet Envoy’s three victories, which include two stakes races, have earned $127,920 and were achieved against lineups restricted to New York-bred horses.
Bred by Virginia Kraft Payson, the colt has won the Damon Runyon and Bertram F. Bongard stakes races at Aqueduct.
