Mayor of Omaha Recalled in Alleged Abuse of Power

OMAHA, Neb. — Mayor Mike Boyle lost his bid to remain in office Tuesday as voters capped a bitter campaign by recalling him for alleged abuse of power. Opponents accused Boyle of meddling in police affairs, of being “soft” on drunk driving and of making disrespectful remarks. Boyle, 42, admitted that some of the recall group’s criticisms were justified. He apologized for a racial slur and other remarks.
