County’s Scholar-Athlete Team Named
Foothill, Loara and Woodbridge high schools each had two players selected to the National Football Foundation’s scholar-athlete team in Orange County.
Foothill placed nose guard Randy Laycock and offensive tackle Mike Gazzaniga on the 20-member team. Woodbridge had running back David Townsend and quarterback Mike Yurkovich selected. Loara had linebacker Brian Malavar and defensive Tony Ferrentino selected.
Players chosen for the team must be all-league selections who maintained at least a 3.3 grade-point average. The team:
