NEW YORK — Lewis Lloyd and Mitchell Wiggins of the Houston Rockets were banned for life by the NBA today after they failed tests for cocaine, the league said.
Lloyd and Wiggins were the third and fourth players to be banned from the league under an anti-drug agreement with the NBA Players Assn. Lloyd, 6-foot-6, started every game for Houston last season but was a disappointment when the Rockets lost in the NBA finals against Boston. Wiggins, 6-4, was a first-round pick of Indiana in 1983 but was traded to Chicago before the start of the season. He was traded to the Rockets the next season.
