MOSCOW — A Soviet ship rescued two Americans from the Atlantic after their helicopter crashed into the sea, the Tass news agency reported Monday.
It said the Americans were returning from Colombia, where they had been prospecting for oil, when their helicopter dropped into the water and sank because of a fault in the blade control system.
They were were picked up from a raft by the Soviet ship Volodarsk, which had just left Havana. Tass did not say when or exactly where the accident occurred, and it did not identify the Americans.
