An unidentified man was killed early Sunday morning when he was thrown from a speeding vehicle that rolled into a steep canyon.
The unidentified Navy enlisted man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at the 17-mile marker on California 67 about 2:30 a.m., a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Navy enlistee Ronald David Guinn, was arrested and booked into County Jail downtown on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, the spokesman said.
Guinn was headed north when he lost control of his vehicle while traveling too fast on a curve, the spokesman said. The vehicle left the road and rolled down a steep canyon, ejecting the passenger. Guinn, who was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, freed himself and summoned help.
