Onion Field Killer Ruling

The Bird Court has done it again! As 1986 drew to a close and as the Bird Court counted its last days, this infamous tribunal moved to let loose on the streets of California a cop killer.

The Bird Court has decided that there is no justification for keeping Gregory Powell, the Onion Field killer, behind bars. It can be supposed that a death penalty, that a sentence of life in prison in California, that the will of the people of California, is but a dream.

Powell, in the coldest of blood, viciously murdered police officer Ian Campbell. The slaying was calculated, methodical and heinous. Still not satisfied, Powell then stalked Campbell’s partner, a second murder in mind. Yet, as the new year sees its first month, if the Bird Court has its way, Powell will walk free in the Northern California sun.

Many years ago in school, I was taught: a government by and for the people. The people spoke years ago in the case of Powell. But the Bird Court has turned deaf ears to the will of the people.

Another good man is dead and buried; another killer goes free. When will we learn? When will we ever learn?
