PCAA : Gray’s Layup Leads Pacific
STOCKTON — Junior guard Christian Gray scored a layup at the buzzer Friday night to give University of the Pacific a 59-57 victory over UC Santa Barbara in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. basketball opener for both.
Gray, who scored six of Pacific’s final nine points, led the Tigers with a career-high 24 points.
Both Pacific and Santa Barbara are 5-5 overall.
Pacific built a 28-20 halftime lead and had a 12-point advantage, 39-27, with 14:18 left. But the Gauchos outscored the Tigers, 15-5, down the stretch to tie the score, 52-52, with 2:16 to play.
