TOKYO — The supervisor of a Japanese National Railways train committed suicide because the train plunged off a railroad trestle in high winds earlier this week, killing six people and injuring six others, authorities said today.
Police said they believed 50-year-old Shigeo Nakaji hanged himself to take responsibility for Sunday’s accident. They said they found a note in Nakaji’s living room saying, “You have been very good to me. Goodby. Shigeo.”
