Baldrige in Hospital With Lung Ailment
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Commerce Secretary Malcolm Baldrige remained in satisfactory condition Wednesday while doctors tried to determine the cause of a lung ailment that has kept him hospitalized since Saturday.
“He’s still making progress, but there is no prognosis,” said Bob Hlady, a University of New Mexico Hospital spokesman. “There have been no significant developments.”
Baldrige, 64, who came to Albuquerque on Dec. 23 to spend Christmas with his daughter and son-in-law, has an accumulation of fluid in both lungs and is being given supplemental oxygen to help his breathing, Hlady said.
