A hit-and-run driver killed a pedestrian Tuesday in Northridge, police said.

The unidentified man was hit at 6:55 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene on Corbin Avenue south of Nordhoff Street, said Officer Bill Mulvihill of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Witnesses said a 1970 to 1975 yellow Chevrolet Camaro, with dark racing stripes along the doors, was northbound on Corbin when the man was hit, Mulvihill said. The victim’s body landed on the hood of the Camaro and the driver swerved to throw the body off, he said.

Police were investigating an auto matching the description of the vehicle involved, which was found parked at the nearby Northridge Fashion Center.
