Orange County Prep Soccer : La Quinta Advances With Win

Senior Kristin Harkins scored a goal in each half to lead La Quinta High School to a 2-0 victory over Westminster Friday afternoon in the second round of the Ocean View girls’ soccer tournament at Ocean View High School.
Harkins has 22 goals for the Aztecs (13-1) this season.
First- and second-round matches were played Friday.
La Quinta plays Torrance at 11 a.m. today in one quarterfinal. Torrance defeated Los Alamitos, 3-0, in the first round and University, 8-0, in the second round.
La Quinta had advanced to the second round of the 32-team tournament when Saddleback forfeited by not showing for its first-round match. No explanation was given for the Roadrunners’ absence.
Fountain Valley and Mission Viejo were the only other Orange County teams to make the quarterfinals.
The Barons beat Camarillo, 3-1, in the first round and Ocean View, 3-1, in the second.
Fountain Valley plays Royal today at 9:15. Royal reached the quarterfinal by beating Dana Hills, 2-1, and South Torrance, 1-0.
Mission Viejo advanced by defeating El Modena, 2-1, and Cypress, 2-0.
The Diablos play West Torrance at 9:15. Arcadia plays Alemany in the other quarterfinal at 11 a.m.
The semifinals will be today at 12:45 and 2:30 p.m.
The championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday.
