The New York athletic agency that represented Chicago Bear defensive end Richard Dent filed suit against the 1986 Super Bowl’s Most Valuable Player for more than $29,000 in back fees.
Walt Frazier and the W.F. Sports Enterprises filed the suit in Cook County Circuit Court for $27,553 in agent and car fees and $1,500 for a watch Frazier said he bought for Dent.
The suit alleges Dent and the agency entered into a written agreement on March 9, 1982, that would give it 0.7% of all money Dent earned in contracts. The agency claims it negotiated contracts for Dent with the Bears for the 1983-85 seasons.
While Dent made partial payments of $23,920, the suit contends Dent still owes the agency more than $27,000. The sum includes back agent fees and leasing fees for a car for which Frazier allegedly paid in late 1982 or early 1983.
Dent could not be reached for comment.
