Venice High School senior Daniel Behrendt was named the Western League’s most valuable soccer player on defense, and seniors Fabrizio Luppi of Venice and Kenny Blackman of Westchester were selected as the league’s most valuable offensive players by league coaches.
Other first-team all-league players are juniors Rene Castro and Paul Gardner of Palisades, seniors Jose Guerra and Luis Lopez and junior Jorge Leal of Venice, seniors Brian Happy and Farzad Safavi and sophomore Tedd Wakeman of Westchester, senior Andrew Leighton of Hamilton, senior Joel Lotilla of University and seniors Mark Wallace and Manuel Valencia and junior Carlos Rodriguez of Crenshaw.
Second-team members from Westchester are seniors Rod Anderson, Jeff Belson and Issa Gharibeh and sophomores Isaac Gharibeh and Ludwin Gomes.
Other second-teamers are juniors Glenn Card and Jonathon Galindo and sophomore Glenn Flores of Crenshaw; juniors Mark Castberg, Jorge Cortez, Hugo Fletes, Ignacio Jiminez, sophomore Jose Lopez and seniors Mark Magill and Mario Moreno of Venice; seniors Mike Dougherty and David Lopez of University, junior Ian McGilvray of Palisades and juniors Jeremy Shapiro and Edgar Tejada of Hamilton.
