Derby Winner Ferdinand, Snow Chief Entered in Friday’s Malibu Stakes
Ferdinand, winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby, and Snow Chief, who won the Preakness two weeks later as Ferdinand finished second, are entered to run Friday in the $100,000 Malibu Stakes, the opening-day feature at Santa Anita.
The rest of the Malibu field includes The Flats, Lans Manus, Bolton, Hilco Scamper, Slyly Gifted, Variety Road, Cheapskate, Bolger Magic, Don B. Blue and Digger’s Rest.
Ferdinand hasn’t run since he finished third in the Belmont Stakes last June. Snow Chief, who ran 11th as the favorite in the Derby, has recovered from knee surgery and will make his first start since a third-place finish in the Silver Screen Handicap at Hollywood Park last July.
Hollywood Park’s 37-day season ends today with the running of the $100,000 Seabiscuit Stakes.
