Former California Sen. John V. Tunney is resigning his partnership in the Los Angeles law firm of Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg, Tunney & Phillips, which he joined in 1977. In a statement, Tunney said his outside interests, including real estate and venture capital, “have placed increasing demands on my time and energy and have made it difficult to do justice to the firm.†Tunney was U.S. senator from 1971 to 1977.
