Mobile Home Fire Kills Three Brothers
NORCROSS, Ga. — A fire engulfed a mobile home Sunday, trapping three young brothers who died in spite of efforts of their parents and others to reach them, authorities said.
The blaze broke out shortly after 6 a.m., said Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Henry Argo.
The heat became intense so quickly that it blocked attempts by the parents, neighbors, police and firefighters to rescue the three boys, Argo said. Investigators had not determined the cause of the fire Sunday evening, he said.
James Durham, 5, Robert Durham, 4, and John Durham, 6 months, were pronounced dead on arrival at Gwinnett Medical Center after their bodies were pulled from the charred wreckage of the trailer, Argo said.
Their parents, Daniel Durham, 31, and his wife, Ella Durham, 32, escaped the flames, Argo said.
