Maxwell: Benjamin Needs Heart Transplant
Cedric Maxwell criticized teammate Benoit Benjamin, who reported to camp overweight and has been unproductive all season, after the Clippers’ 117-113 loss to the Sacramento Kings Thursday night at the Sports Arena.
Maxwell, who helped the Celtics win NBA titles in 1981 and ‘84, told UPI: “The problem was definitely in the middle. Let me ask you, smart press man: Where do you build a team from? Talk to Ben and ask him what he does. We need for this guy to have a heart transplant.â€
Benjamin, the second-year center, has been slow to recover from a sore knee, and Coach Don Chaney has started rookie Tim Kempton.
Coming off the bench, Benjamin had just 6 points Thursday night as the Clippers dropped their fourth straight game and 16th in their last 17 to fall to 4-19.
