Duarte : Government Restructuring

The City Council will consider at its meeting Tuesday the possibility of restructuring city management after the resignation of City Manager Ken Caresio, who will become senior vice president of an investment banking firm Jan. 9.

Caresio serves as city manager, executive director for the city’s redevelopment agency, city clerk and city treasurer. He is assisted by two assistant city managers and a deputy city manager.

The council has asked the city staff to research management in other cities, said Deputy City Manager Jesse Duff. He said restructuring could include appointing a city administrator, who often has less authority than a city manager. Also, most cities do not combine the positions of city manager and city clerk.
