Struggling Lazers Meet Comets Today
The Los Angeles Lazers, returning from a devastating trip physically exhausted and four games out of first place, will play the Kansas City Comets today at 1:30 at the Forum.
The Lazers, who will be playing their 200th Major Indoor Soceer League game, won four of six games from the Comets last season. But after opening this season with three straight victories, the Lazers (3-4) have lost four consecutive games and the services of several key players.
With regulars such as Willie Molano, Poli Garcia, Zizinho and Beto joining backups Jim Kavanaugh and Adam Topolski on the injured list, the Lazers are struggling with a makeshift roster and will continue to do so until Garcia and Zizinho return in a week.
Defender Erhardt Kaap, out since Dec. 6 with a twisted knee, is expected to return to action today, while Beto and Molano will remain out for about four weeks with knee and shoulder injuries, respectively.
The Comets are 5-3.
