Hulbert-Tway Team Leads by One Stroke
BOCA RATON, Fla. — Mike Hulbert tapped in a birdie putt at the 17th hole Saturday as he and Bob Tway kept the lead after three rounds of the $600,000 Chrysler PGA Team Invitational golf tournament.
Hulbert and Tway then saved par at the 18th and finished the day with an eight-under-par 64 on the Boca West No. 1 course, considered the most difficult of the three courses used in this unusual best-ball event.
The leaders shot a 59 in the opening round and a 62 Friday. They will enter today’s final round on the 7,233-yard No. 1 course with a 31-under-par total of 185.
Hulbert and Tway fought off a challenge by Brad Faxon and Denny Hepler, who had a 60 at the Broken Sound Club for a three-day total of 186.
Gary Hallberg and Scott Hoch, after shooting a 64 on the No. 1 course, are at 188.
