Suspicions Confirmed
I wish to thank the Times and David Myers for the very helpful article on home-equity loans (Nov. 2).
Having just completed an extremely painful, 10-month effort to refinance a property I own on a 30-year, fixed-rate basis, and aware as I was of the changes in the tax law, I had frequently wondered whether one of the home-equity loans might be a better approach to the problem.
Your article reconfirmed many of my suspicions concerning the home-equity loan approach. It can be very useful in a pinch, but it is fraught with dangers for the unenlightened.
