Peruvian Prime Minister Luis Alva Castro, detailing measures to prolong an economic boom, announced an end to a 16-month-old price freeze and its replacement by a series of controls. Alva, who is also economy minister, said four varieties of controls will go into effect Dec. 15. Prices of 200 basic products, including rice, bread, milk, gasoline and fertilizer, will remain under government control but will be allowed to rise during 1987. Peru’s central bank announced that the Peruvian inti, frozen in 1985, will be devalued by 2.2% monthly through 1987.
