GIs to Participate in Honduras Road Project

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — As many as 4,500 U.S. troops will help build roads in the rugged highlands of northern Yoro province next year, Honduran army officials announced.
The construction project, scheduled to begin Jan. 10, will focus on building new access roads in the isolated region north of the capital of Tegucigalpa, army spokesman Lt. Col. Cesar Maradiaga said Tuesday.
Madariaga said that about 4,500 U.S. troops, including soldiers, National Guardsmen and Army Reserves from Puerto Rico, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio, will help build the 115 miles of roads, which are scheduled to be completed May 10.
