Blaze in Crest Ruins Restaurant

CREST — A suspected arson resulted in $200,000 damage to a restaurant here Sunday morning.
Firefighters from the Crest Volunteer Fire Department arrived at Armando’s Hideaway, in the 1300 block of La Cresta Boulevard, at 7:49 a.m. Sunday and found the restaurant fully engulfed, a San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept. spokesman said. Firefighters from the Grossmont-Mount Helix and Alpine fire departments also were called.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department arson squad have determined that the fire was started by an arsonist, but they have no suspects, the spokesman said. The investigation is continuing.
