Orange County Community College Basketball : Golden West Still in Contention for Bowl Game Invitation
Despite two consecutive losses, Golden West College could still play in a bowl game.
The Rustlers (7-2) are being considered for a berth in the Southern Cal Conference Bowl against either College of the Desert or Los Angeles Valley.
If College of the Desert (7-2) defeats L.A. Harbor Saturday it will host the bowl. But if the Roadrunners lose, Los Angeles Valley (6-3), which concluded its season last Saturday, will win the conference and host the bowl.
Moorpark, which finished second to Glendale (10-0) in the Western State Conference (6-3), is the other team being considered.
Golden West opened the season with seven victories and appeared headed for the PONY Bowl as the local team, but the Rustlers were defeated by Fullerton and Cerritos.
Glendale will meet Riverside (8-1) in the PONY Bowl Dec. 6 in Costa Mesa’s LeBard Stadium. Cerritos (6-2-1) travels to Bakersfield to play Taft (6-3) in the Potato Bowl Dec. 6.
San Diego Mesa (5-2-2) plays Southwestern (5-3-1) in the National Football Foundation Bowl Dec. 6.
