CSUN Still in Contention for Division II Playoffs

Cal State Northridge’s chances of making the Division II football playoffs improved this week even though the Matadors were not one of five teams selected by the Division II football committee.
Northridge jumped from 15th to ninth in the Division II rankings after defeating Portland State, 34-0.
Eight teams make the playoffs; Northridge Coach Bob Burt said the Matadors are in position for one of the final three if they beat Cal State Sacramento on Saturday to win the Western Football Conference.
North Dakota State, UC Davis, Troy (Ala.) State, Central (Ohio) State, and South Dakota have already earned berths.
“We’re in charge of our own destiny,” Burt said, “I have to believe if we win, we’ll go. Especially if Townson or Texas A&I; were to lose.”
