Bobby Layne, an NFL Hall of Fame quarterback, remained in stable condition at a hospital in Pontiac, Mich., a spokesman said.
Nick Kerbawy, commissioner of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, said that Layne, 59, was suffering from a recurrent liver ailment.
Layne, who led the Detroit Lions to three NFL titles during the ‘50s, was hospitalized Saturday night after attending an annual dinner of former Detroit players and club officials.
