Development and Elections in Newport Beach
I live in a quiet residential neighborhood that borders on MacArthur Boulevard next to its termination at Coast Highway. I have hoped for 10 years that the unsightly mess on the other side of MacArthur Boulevard that is an unfinished portion of Newport Center would be completed. The remnants of temporary buildings, trash bins, piles of dirt, crumpled pavement and weeds remain an ugly scar in a city of great beauty.
A special election will be held on Nov. 25 to allow the public at large to vote on the plan for the build-out of Newport Center. Hopefully, the landscaping and beautification portion of the General Plan Amendment approved by the City Council can be achieved in the near future for the enjoyment of all.
