TOPEKA — Kansans gave GOP Sen. Bob Dole his fourth six-year term, while fellow Republican Mike Hayden was elected governor.
Dole defeated political newcomer Guy MacDonald, 70% to 30%.
Hayden had 52% of the votes to Tom Docking’s 50%.
Democrats won two House seats and Republicans won three.
Constitutional amendments legalizing the sale of liquor by the drink in public restaurants, creating a state lottery and permitting pari-mutuel betting all won.
