Pedestrian Killed: A Lakewood man was hit by a car and killed shortly after midnight Monday as he crossed Beach Boulevard, a police spokeswoman said. Kenneth Gene Waddell, 54, was trying to cross from the center divider to the east side of the road, where his car was parked, when he was struck. The driver of the car that hit Waddell told police she did not see the pedestrian until just before impact. She was not cited or held, but a police investigation is continuing.
