Pasadena and Freeways

Sam Kaplan’s poignant story of the families and neighborhoods of South Pasadena tells a story that needs to be told (“A Historic Area at the Crossroads,” Oct. 18).
And Mary Ann Parada’s comment, “and everyone knows by now that freeways don’t solve traffic problems, they just create more,” should be tattooed on the foreheads of the freeway proponents.
To “improve the quality of travel” according to the highway lobby would require a traffic-free lane from each home to every destination; in other words, pave over Southern California.
