Curb Apologizes for Aide’s Call
Mike Curb publicly apologized today for a call placed to a live radio talk show by his campaign manager, who badgered his boss’s election rival, Lt. Gov. Leo T. McCarthy, in a disguised voice, as though the call were from a member of the public.
“I want to apologize to you for that,†Curb told KABC’s Michael Jackson, the host of the call-in show on which Curb campaign manager Fred Karger tried to work the ruse Thursday. “That certainly is not the style of our campaign,†Curb said. “Maybe the heat of the campaign caused him to do something really out of character for him.â€
