Arts Center Seating Policy
My husband and I subscribed to Opera Pacific at the Performing Arts Center many months ago. Recently we received a letter asking for a contribution. I have no objection to this. What I do emphatically object to is the paragraph, “We cannot thank you enough, of course, but we can show our appreciation for your generosity by providing the most desirable seats in the magnificent Center to those who help us the most.”
I believe that the fine arts should be available to all, and on a first-come, first-served basis. My husband and I have been longtime subscribers to Orange County’s outstanding and renowned resident theater. Never has preferential seating been tied to the amount of money one is able to donate. Perhaps it has something to do with the quality and integrity of the people in charge.
