College Roundup : Chapman Beats Cal Poly Pomona in Soccer

Scott McCrimmon and Rick Snyder scored first-half goals Wednesday to lead the Chapman College soccer team to a 2-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at Pomona.
McCrimmon’s goal came at the 31:02 mark. Snyder scored his team-leading sixth goal with 30 seconds left in the first half. Panther goalie Keri Bello made eight saves to help Chapman improve to 2-3 in the CCAA, 8-7-1 overall. Pomona is 1-3-1 and 5-8-3.
In nonconference soccer action:
United States International University 5, UC Irvine 1--Jon Sissons scored two goals to lead the Gulls (5-3-1) over the Anteaters (6-10) at San Diego.
Christ College Irvine 4, Pacific Christian 0--Dale Bookout, Dave Clem, Bob Stevens and Steve Mattoon scored goals at Christ College. Irvine is 4-4; Pacific Christian is 0-7.
In nonconference water polo action:
Cal State Los Angeles 10, Cal State Fullerton 7--Craig Lumb, J.B. Meirelles and Rod Forsch scored two goals each to lead the Golden Eagles (6-12) past the Titans (4-10) at Independence Park in Fullerton. John Kwilman scored four goals for Fullerton.
