San Diego State University police Wednesday released a sketch of the assailant being sought in connection with the sexual assault at gunpoint of a 27-year-old Fresno woman Saturday evening in a Hepner Hall bathroom.
At the same time, campus police announced that two foot patrol officers will be added to the five-person police force that covers SDSU during evening hours. The officers, who will be paid from special overtime funds reserved for emergencies, will patrol Monday through Friday from 6 to 11.
In addition, SDSU is distributing “SafetyShare” brochures, which contain tips on safety practices and crime prevention, including detailed information about avoiding sexual assault.
Saturday’s incident was the sixth campus-area sexual assault in six weeks.
The assailant is described as being a 21- to 26-year-old white male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, weighing 160 pounds. He had a stocky build, short, dirty blond hair and acne on the lower part of his face. He was wearing a sweater and baggy slacks with suspenders. He carried a backpack and wore tan or off-white canvas knit shoes.
