OK, JOE

Harry Morgan, taciturn officer Bill Gannon for four years on TV’s “Dragnet,” is coming back--with a promotion--when Universal begins shooting a movie version of the series this week.
“I’ve been bumped up to captain,” growled Morgan. “They wanted to make me chief of police but then decided to keep me captain so I could be more involved in the story.”
Jack Webb, who created the series and starred as Sergeant Joe Friday, died in 1982. Dan Aykroyd will keep the Friday name alive as Joe’s nephew in the pic, which is being called a “comedic, reverential spoof” of the TV series. (Aykroyd, director Tom Mankiewicz and Alan Zweibel scripted.) It’s due out next summer.
