A 29-year-old man was booked into County Jail in Vista on suspicion of attempted murder and felony drunk driving after he drove a truck into the front door of a Carlsbad nightclub and injured five people Monday, authorities said.
Carlsbad police said officers responded to a call from Rockwell’s nightclub, 3050 Pio Pico Drive, at 10:23 p.m. and arrested Kevin Shannon of Oceanside. Five men in their 20s had been injured, and one, Eric Martinez, 26, also of Oceanside, was taken to Tri-City Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition Tuesday.
Owen Stiles, manager of Rockwell’s, said none of the injuries was serious. He said Shannon had been “forcibly removed” from the nightclub for unruly behavior. Shannon threatened a doorman, then drove a four-wheel-drive truck into the front door, causing more than $10,000 in damage, he said.
Stiles said a patron tackled Shannon in the parking lot after the crash and held him for police.
