NEW YORK — Stock prices varied in dull trading today, supported by strength in a few big-name issues but restrained by a late slide in blue-chip leader International Business Machines.
The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials closed unchanged at 1,784.45.
New York Stock Exchange volume was about 125.10 million shares compared with 88.25 million shares Monday.
