23 Arrested in Victory Rampage

Deputies arrested 22 “red-blooded, all American kids” and a male adult early today for dumping shredded newspapers around a Hacienda Heights high school neighborhood in a show of campus spirit, authorities said.
The rowdy crowd--apparently still celebrating the 42-0 Los Altos victory over La Mirada High School on Friday night--also uprooted three stop signs, several real estate placards and an Exxon oil sign to place on the front lawn of Los Altos High School. Deputies on early morning patrol found the teen-agers dumping trash out of cars about 3 a.m., while others ran down streets in a two-square-mile area around the campus. “Just good red-blooded, all-American kids trying to find a little excitement,” Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Gilstrap said. “It just got a little out of hand.”
