HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : Chatsworth Defense Shines, 15-7

Chatsworth High’s James Foreman recovered a fumble in the end zone with almost 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Chancellors later added a safety to record a 15-7 nonleague football victory over Manual Arts at Chatsworth.
With Manual Arts leading, 7-6, punter Mike Scott dropped the snap on his own goal line, and Foreman’s touchdown gave Chatsworth a 13-7 lead. On Manual Arts’ next possession, quarterback Denny Straughan was sacked in his end zone by Chatsworth’s Kurt Moeller.
Chatsworth (1-2) opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 71-yard touchdown run by Spence Durham. Chatsworth missed the extra point.
Manual Arts (1-1) came back on the next play from scrimmage and scored on a 59-yard touchdown run by Herman Nash. Sammy Young’s extra point gave Manual Arts a 7-6 lead.
