Schlumberger Ltd., New York, named Euan Baird chairman, president and chief executive, replacing Michel Vaillaud. Baird, who joined the company in 1960, had been an executive vice president. There was no explanation of Vaillaud’s departure in a brief company statement reporting the move. Vaillaud had been chairman since September, 1985.
