Ruiz Is Named Baseball Coach at University
Steve Ruiz has been named baseball coach at University High School, Athletic Director Steve Scoggin announced Tuesday.
Ruiz has been the Trojans’ junior varsity coach the past two seasons. He replaces Chris Conlin, who was fired as coach Sept. 12 by Principal Bob Bruce.
Conlin remains a physical education teacher, head wrestling coach and assistant football coach at the school.
Ruiz’s junior varsity baseball team was 19-3 last spring and has won the Sea View League titles each of the last two seasons. Ruiz, who has been at University since 1980, is a social studies and political science teacher.
