Bob Woods Dies; Coached Football at Mater Dei High

Bob Woods, a former football coach at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana and Bishop Amat High in La Puente, died Saturday night of cancer. He was 55.
The Rosary will be held tonight at the Brown Mortuary in Santa Ana and funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon at the Holy Family Church in Orange.
Woods was at Mater Dei from 1959 to 1972, spending the last seven as head coach. He compiled a record of 47-15-2 before he was fired in January of 1973. He then became an assistant coach at Bishop Amat from 1973 through 1985.
